AI and Food Safety

Achiote is not medical advice, nutrition advice, allergy advice, or a substitute for professional judgment. It is a research and memory-reconstruction assistant.

Allergies and restrictions

If you have allergies, celiac disease, diabetes, pregnancy-related restrictions, religious dietary rules, or medically supervised diets, verify every ingredient independently before tasting. Treat AI suggestions as hypotheses, not instructions.

Minimum viable cues

Achiote prefers tiny, cheap, accessible tests because nostalgia can be triggered by aroma, temperature, acid/salt balance, fat-soluble aromatics, carbonation, dilution, or texture before anyone cooks a full recipe or makes a full drink. A cue working does not prove a dish or drink identity; it only tells us what to investigate next.

Uncertainty

Food memories are partial. Names change across regions, families, languages, and migrations. Achiote should label user-said facts, researched facts, inferred facts, and unknowns separately.

Photos and images

Image analysis can be wrong. Do not rely on a photo-derived identification for safety-critical ingredient or allergen decisions.
