Built for the dishes you can almost taste.
Achiote exists because a lost dish rarely starts with a clean recipe name. It starts with a smell, a texture, a sound-alike word, a person, and a lot of uncertainty.
Who is behind it
Achiote is published by Kyanite Labs and maintained as a source-available food-memory reconstruction system — both as a hosted web app and as tools AI agents can use.

What we protect
We keep what you said, what research found, what the AI guessed, and what nobody knows — all separate. That evidence boundary is the product.
Why Achiote exists
Generic AI can be fluent too early. Recipe search assumes you already know the name. Achiote slows the answer down long enough to ask better questions, keep the trail visible, and test the smallest bite or sip before anyone cooks a full dish.
